This feels a lot like those awkward Wednesday nights out when you were seventeen. You promised your mum you’d been home by 10.00 but now its quarter to eleven and you’re silently trying to turn the key in the back door because you got waylaid trying to convince the bouncer you were definitely 25 and doesn’t everyone look that different on their driving license?
I’M SORRY I’VE STAYED AWAY TOO LONG MY LOVES. SORRY I’VE NEGLECTED YOU BLOG.
But I’m back now (even though that boy from Year 13 who you really fancy was out and you are so self-disciplined for even coming home at all. god what a saint you are.) and I promise I’ll not go on a spontaneous hiatus again.
So now that ramble is over, let’s get down to it.
I don’t wanna be that person that lists all the reasons they’ve been a neglectful blog-mother because YOLO I’m my own woman and dance to my own fiddle, but you know, it’s relevant.
You see, the last two weeks I’ve finally been able to get my 2016 started. To start making exactly what I wanted to make of this year. You might be asking why it’s taken me this long, but if you were to see the videos of me on Year 5 Sports Day you’d understand, I’m the original slow starter.
I wanted 2016 to be the year I say yes to more experiences, rather than things. Spend all my money on travelling and memories rather than another scarf (sorry COS you know I love you and you know I’ll be back next week).
So far only half of this is working out so well – mainly me saying yes to everything (experiences AND things) and then having to eat baked beans for dinner 4 nights a week.
But hey they’re full of fibre and one of your five a day. So if I keep it up I’ll look like Gigi Hadid and be a woman of the world by 2017. I win.
But seriously, I saw the ultimate woman Emma Gannon is also taking this experiences over things attitude to the new year, and hey if it’s good enough for Emma, then it’s good enough for us chumps.
Okay that tangent snowballed quickly.
What I meant to say is the last two weeks I’ve been travelling a little more than usual (if you follow me on Instagram) you will have seen my humble brag airport snaps (what you can’t see is the security guard hating me for wondering whether lipstick was a liquid).
And although it has meant I haven’t been as attentive to my little space on the internet (sorry mate, I’ll buy you a Milk Tray to make up for it) I have completely been making the most of every single day. And I wouldn’t be the ultimate millennial cliche I am, if I didn’t preach the virtues of YOLO and the Easy Jet sale.
So from now on I’m making sure every day in my diary is full of something – be it big or small – to make sure 2016 is the best yet.
Starting with this Saturday – whose gonna be at the Blogger’s Market? Promise it will be a gal-pal fest.
