Despite being someone who dresses in the same five outfits for 95% of my waking hours (FYI that includes pyjamas, they are the work of unicorns), I really do disservice to my hardest working pieces.
When I’m shopping I tend to think of black denim as the ‘boring’ items (unless you’re in COS and it’s just like ALL THE CHIC CLOTHES COME AT ME).
And although I do buy them, I resent them because they are ‘boring’ purchases. But I could not be more wrong.
Not only do they form the base of my entire wardrobe as many would have you believe, they ARE my entire wardrobe.
Ask anyone I work with.
Actually wait don’t do that, cause they’ll all say that they have secret meetings where they wonder if I ever wash my clothes because I wear the same thing on repeat every day.
And in case you’re wondering, yes I do wash them.
So my unsung heroes need to get the credit they deserve, and luckily I was given a prompt reminder when my favourite brand We Are Uncivilised handed me a pair of their new black denim mum jeans and so bypassed my foolhardy attitude of ignoring the denim section in the shops.
Since getting them they have hardly left my body – did you know you can sleep in denim? Yeah me neither.
But they are just the best thing ever, and they even managed to get rid of that dreaded slouchy bum that Topshop specializes in that makes you look like you’re wearing an adult nappy.
I might be gradually losing control of this blog, but you’ll all be pleased to know I am not at the stage I need that kind of help…
So here’s to We Are Uncivilised and to the unsung heroes of our wardrobes, the ones that make us look great from behind, even when we had that second croissant that we REALLY shouldn’t have.
