GUYS! GUYS! We did it, we found the rest of Brooklyn!
If you tuned in for Part I Brooklyn – our brief encounter with DUMBO – you’ll remember that we were a bit confused what all the fuss was about. Little did we know, we just needed to rope in some local help – in the form of Matt and Mel our new Yankee buddies. And it turns out Brooklyn is just great – I mean look at that potato salad!
Salted Caramel and Almond doughnuts and Berry and Lemon doughnuts…
Williamsburg Smorgasburg, East River State Park, Pier 5, Brooklyn
For our second attempt we decided to hit up the Saturday Williamsburg Smorgasburg – and no I don’t know what that name is about either – it’s essentially just a food court but outside (a familiar stomping ground for all those who grew up with the 90’s Lakeside shopping centres of Essex) and with a ton of pulled pork and salted caramel – you go Brooklyn!
But there were also hipsters, that part we did get right. Not too much Kale though, much to Jack’s disappointment.
If you happen to be in the area (or not even in the area – make the effort guys) then I thoroughly recommend the Smorgasburg for all things foodie and delicious, although definitely skip breakfast and just go a little early (opens at 10) because those hipsters are not afraid to queue my friends.
My final pick of Pulled Pork sweet buns in Brioche with Texas Potato Salad!
Breakfast Brunch Muffins – Bruffins – from all over the world (hence the tiny flags). Looking tasty from where I’m standing, although the Japanese offering of Savoury Chicken Teriyaki with Chopped Scallions didn’t sound like what I’m hankering for at 9am…
If you can look past Mel and my cuteness then you will also notice that the Smorgasburg has some pretty amazing views of the Manhattan skyline – tick, tick, tick!
Ramen Burger – a burger stuffed between two buns made of Ramen Noodles – if you look really closely you can see they look like Super Noodles either side of a Burger – really tempting but less so when you notice the hour long queue – this is apparently the must-eat-item for this week.
This is our final post (I know, I bet you thought they were never going to end) from our trip to New York and Boston – we had such a good time and are thoroughly disappointed to be back at work now.
Oh well only another week till we have some more holiday time off – who said living in the Caribbean was tough?!
Also we have been thinking about making a quick dash to Orlando Universal Studios in September or October for some fun-filled thrill rides and roller coasters so any suggestions about places to stay or things that are a must/must not would be much appreciated!
